Rejuvenation and renovation! That’s our mantra for gardening in winter.

Even though the weather is becoming colder and wetter, there’s still plenty to do outside. We compiled a list of these jobs (10 Gardening Jobs For Winter) including gutter cleaning, pruning, and organising your garden shed. You’ll find these jobs really uplifting and reinvigorating (plus you’ll keep warm while you’re busy moving about!)

Our friends at Searles have recently updated their packaging and formula for their amazing 5in1 Organic Plant Fertiliser. They’re available in pellet form, which is terrific for digging through your soil as a slow release over the season. When organic fertilisers are applied to your soil, the existing humus and organic material store the new nutrients which results in a ‘slow release’ effect. Chemical fertilisers have a tendency to leach away very quickly. 5in1 also adds a long life humus build up to the soil, encouraging microbial and earthworm activity. The worms are already loving the rain, so they’ll really appreciate the composting ingredients. The ingredients consist of Blood & Bone plus Hoof & Horn, fish and seaweed nutrients, Potash bloom booster, composted animal manures and a full compliment of trace elements and minerals.

Your plants root systems will strengthen thanks to the organic fertiliser reducing temperature fluctuations – creating a more even and healthier environment to grow. Stronger leaves to combat frosty nights, healthy veggies (such as your winter brassicas – cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower) and lots of winter flowers (hello Hardenbergias!) Bare rooted plants will also benefit from 5in1 when they’re being planted.

Simply mix one part 5IN1 Organic Fertiliser to three parts existing soil to enrich the soil and provide long term organic nutrients to plants.
