My first impression of this garden was how warm and comfortable it felt, and how easily you could relax in it. The feature of this bronze-winning design was the very unique stone; sandstone sourced from the Grampians. This was incorporated into a striking water feature and stairs, sweeping upwards into a raised lawn area. The pink-toned stone was also used to create a traditional dry-stone wall and paving from which plants such as prostrate rosemary, and erigeron peeked though. The plants were selected due to their soft colours and textures – miscanthus, salvia, pelargonium and olive trees. Chris Thomson and Kent Thomas were two of the seven people that made up the team that built this stunning garden. They believed that the name “Rejuvenate” best suited the theme of “breathing life into a garden” as well as utilising recycled materials such as the gate which was sourced from a farm in Colac. The stone and water were important; keeping in line with the feeling of the garden, and bringing the garden down to earth with that natural touch. Drought resistant and easy to maintain, this was a very inspiring garden which could be replicated if you wanted a comfortable and natural style garden to where you could relax.
